If you are happy with your mains water supply then the fitting of a "mains water filtration system" is the perfect answer to having great drinking water at a fabulously low fixed cost.
Mains Water Filtration Systems
Mains water carbon filters remove chlorine and numerous other organic compounds which can be found in mains water. This greatly improves the taste of the water and removes chemicals, which your body would rather not have.
A mains filter is not just a great device for providing great drinking water but is used for filling your cooking pots. Would you prefer to have your potatoes/peas/carrots cooked in chlorinated water or not? With a mains filtration system you don’t have to.
Mains water filters also have a physical element to them and are rated in size “um” microns i.e. 1um .gif) equals 1 millionth of a metre. To give you an idea of size, cryptosporidium which is a water bourne cyst is approx 3um in size. Hence a filter rated at 5um would let the cyst go through, conversely a 1um filter would not.
The amount of carbon in the filter is also important; the more carbon the more water the filter can treat. How the carbon is packed is also important; cheap filters have the carbon loose, and after a short while the water finds its own path through pushing the carbon to one side rendering the filter useless.
All our filters are rated for 8500 litres, and are either carbon block (acid washed) or spring loaded (keeping carbon compressed) thereby performing the job they were intended for the amount of time expected.

 Flood Protection Systems
The water block is a unique device designed to offer safe protection against accidental flooding without the need for electricity.
The device incorporates a mechanical water meter which monitors a pre-set volume of water, when the pre-set is exceeded the until will close off the water supply. The waterblock is fitted with an integral filter system to guard against waterborne impurities.
The unit is simple to install to any standard 3/4 BSP (gas) water connection and can be pre-set between 5 - 50 litres.
The filters we fit in our commercial premises are the same as we fit in domestic properties.
We could sell cheap filters, but we don’t... we do sell filters that work.

Our filters
We sell two sizes:
5um
 This is our biggest seller and is recommended for a period 6 months and/or 8500 litres of mains water or which ever comes first (obviously if the mains water is very poor quality then it will affect the performance of the filter eg there is maintenance work being carried out on the water main nearby and sludge is stirred up).
Our 5um filters also do not have a great effect on the mains water pressure and therefore are the number one choice for most locations. If, however you are concerned about cryptosporidum in your mains water which can occur from time to time, then a finer filter would be better i.e. our 1um Carbon Block Filter.
1um
This filter is our "Rolls Royce" of filters and is a carbon block type i.e. no loose carbon, hence water has no easy path through. It will filter out any particles larger than 1um and will prevent cysts like cryptopsoriduim from getting through.
This filter is recommended for a period of 6 months and/or 8500 litres, which ever comes first.
1um is incredibly small and does affect the flow rate, i.e. pressure is lost over the filter. If you have a mains water supply which has a low pressure then a 1um filter may not be the best solution.

Filter Heads
 Our filter heads have a double shut-off valve fitted. This means you don’t need to shut the water off to change the filter because as you unscrew it the water shuts off automatically. Our filter heads take both the 1um and 5um filters, so if you are not sure about which size is best in relation to water pressure, try the 1um filter first. If the flow rate is good then you have the best filter, if it is too slow then change to a 5um filter. The only thing you need to change is the filter and not the head.
Installation
DIY
 We will supply you with all the parts you need, except the tools, to fit your own mains water filtration system, and it is unlikely to take you more than 45 minutes to complete. Thereafter to change a filter will take you approximately 1minute and you don’t need to turn the water off.
We will install it for you
If you would prefer, we will install the system for you and guarantee the installation work for 5 years. Within the central belt of Scotland the cost is £50.00, and elsewhere within mainland UK is £75 per installation.
